Getting Healthy with TERRAfit Week 11

Well another week and another half a pound gone. There’s only one week of TERRAfit left, I cannot believe how fast this challenge has blown by. I’ve decided to go ahead and do the next challenge. I’m so close to my 15 pound goal, if I can lose 15-20 pounds during the next challenge I will be on cloud 9!

TERRAfit

I started TERRAfit with the hopes of a huge weight loss, but I realize now that I was setting myself up for disappointment. I think I went into this thinking it was going to be like all the “success” stories you see on TV where a person takes a pill or does a certain workout routine and loses 20 pounds overnight. In reality it takes a healthy diet and hard work to make that happen, well at least to make it happen and make it stick. My diet may not be 100% where it needs to be but it is so much better than it was 12 weeks ago. I’m extremely proud of that, because not only am I eating better but so are my kids. They’re getting a healthy diet full of fresh foods. I don’t even want to think about all the nasty chemicals and additives that we were eating before I started this challenge. My hope is that my kids will grow up healthy and not have to fight their weight and eating habits like I have.

Getting Healthy with TERRAfit Week 10

I have major news to report….I was able to fit into a pair of jeans that I hadn’t worn in over a year!! Maybe that’s not exciting to other people but for me this a major accomplishment. And it’s not just one pair of jeans but several! Now if I could just get my shirts to cooperate I would have a whole new wardrobe!

The scale stayed steady this week which I’m okay with, at least I maintained my weight. I’m also seeing other changes in my body, such as how my clothes fit, that keep me trucking forward. I love my non scale victories probably more than actually seeing the scale number go down.

TERRAfit

I’ve been trying to decide whether or not to sign up for the next TERRAfit challenge. I struggled through the first 4 weeks of exercises because I found them so boring but the 2nd and 3rd sets were much better. I actually love the 3rd set of videos, I finish them feeling like I got an awesome workout. The good thing about the streaming video package is that I can chose which video I want to do each day. They give you a schedule but you can completely customize it to fit your needs. I think if I do sign up for the next challenge I’ll just skip the first set of videos and start with the 2nd set.

I’m hoping to finish this round of TERRAfit with a 15 pound loss, I’m close so keep your fingers crossed!

Getting Healthy with TERRAfit Week 9

Well this week with TERRAfit I lost another pound! I amped up the exercise this past week hoping to see a bigger loss on the scale but I guess that wasn’t meant to be. My body seems to want to do this slow and steady, and while that won’t win me the TERRAfit competition I’m happy with that. I’m hoping that by losing slowly this will be easier for me to maintain after the challenge is over. Even though I only lost a pound my clothes are fitting looser, so I’m hoping that means that I gained muscle, which I’ve been told weighs more than fat. 🙂

Someone asked me the other day how I incorporate the Slim & Sassy Metabolic Blend products into my daily routine so I thought I’d share with you all too. Usually 4-5 times a week I drink a TrimShake, I love the vanilla, it taste great and is so versatile. I make it for either breakfast or lunch and add half a banana, strawberries, or blueberries, chia seeds and spinach. I also take 2-3 of the Metabolic Blend soft gels. They are wonderful at helping curb my appetite so that I don’t over eat, so instead of going back for seconds I actually find myself not being able to finish my first plate…woohoo!

While I love the Slim & Sassy products I want to stress that they are not what’s causing me to lose weight…I use them to help support my body while I’m doing so. This journey has taught me so much about the importance of eating correctly. I don’t need to live to eat but to eat to live. That has been a huge struggle for me but after seeing how eating healthy has improved the way I feel I know it has all been worth it. Getting Healthy with TERRAfit Week 8

I couldn’t be happier that I decided to participate in TERRAfit. I lost 6.3 pounds this week! Which means not only did I lose what I gained last week but I managed to lose a little more on top of it. Gaining last week taught me something, just because I make a few bad food choices doesn’t mean that I’ve ruined everything.

TERRAfit has been life changing for me. For once I’m actually keeping up the exercise. I feel so much better when I get my exercise in. I have more energy than I’ve had in a long time. I actually want to get off the couch and do something. The extra energy is definitely nice for keeping up with my two little ones, it still amazes me how much energy they have.

I also can’t get over how my taste has changed. While I’ve always liked vegetables I would always choose other unhealthy foods because that’s what I craved. Now I actually catch myself craving healthy foods. Nothing is better than a plate full of baked cod and fresh vegetables…yummy! Not to mention that when I do eat something that’s loaded with grease and carbs it actually makes me sick to my stomach. I guess my body has gotten accustomed to all the good nutrients it’s been getting. Changing my eating and exercise habits was very hard for me, I had to undo years of bad choices and that is definitely not easy. But now that I’ve done it I am loving the results.

I only have a few more weeks left in TERRAfit. As of now I’ve lost right at 13 pounds, I’m hoping to end the challenge with close to 20 pounds gone so keep your fingers crossed for me!

All Natural Deodorant Image

DIY – All Natural Coconut Oil Deodorant

All Natural Coconut Oil Deodorant with Essential Oils
Avoid toxic chemical additives by making and using all natural coconut oil deodorant with essential oils.
1/8 cup baking soda
1/4 cup cornstarch
6 Tablespoons melted coconut oil   (sit container in hot water to melt, never microwave)
10 Drops Purify Essential Oil
(ask me about which brand of pure essential oils that I use!  Adjust the number of drops to reach the desired scent)
***I purchase my coconut oil at Sam’s Club!  I have been very happy with the quality…

Mix all ingredients in the jar you plan to use. Continue stirring until all ingredients are blended well and creamy. Cover jar with lid. I use a tiny spatula to dip out the portion to be used so that the mixture remains pure.
This recipe should last you several months  🙂
